Monday Morning, about 5 weeks into COVID and quarantine.
I feel “extra” good today. Do you wanna know why?
We cleaned our house yesterday. Yep, living in a house 24X7 takes it’s tolls on the place. (And the people and pets.) Dirty floors, because we walk in and out all day. Extra cooking leaving a mess on the cooktop, the walls, the stainless steel appliances, no matter how much you wipe up in-between. (The old Boston Market commercial selling the idea of “buy our take-out foods and keep your kitchen clean” is so freaking true! )
Our nest needed cleaning, badly.
Our nest needed cleaning, badly. So my husband John and I proceed with “divide and conquer.” Since we both are project manager-types and systems-oriented, we make a list of what needs attention. Then we prioritize and choose our favorites. Most important, we are in different rooms! We are bumping into one another all month as it is. Hahaha
Our Nature: Action as Analog
Open the windows for fresh air and let the fun begin. Ah the pleasure of digging in and getting your hands dirty for a good cause! You know, the thing is most of us spend so much time engaged in “digital” (i.e., computers and social media, “shemental stuff”) things, that we often forget our “roots.” As human Beings, we are way more “analog,” meaning oriented to the action of movement, cleaning, digging, planting, nurturing. That is our Nature.
Sheer Beauty: Out of Your Mind
The sheer beauty of cleaning your own “nest,” digging in your own garden or caring for your beloved two-leggeds or four leggeds is that you are out of your Mind. Out of your head. Back in your body.
The tense, dense thoughts that you think about disappear. Poof! Your worries go by the wayside. Whoosh! Time expands … and it’s just you and your sponge, or your shovel and your hands. So freaking good!!!
Perfect Pairing: “Hey, you Got Peanut Butter in My Chocolate!”
When you are back in your body, you are back in your heart, too. Hand and heart go together, like peanut butter and chocolate.
And then there is the satisfaction of a clean house. All bright and shiny. And, bonus… you did that!
Harmony : Heart and Hands
So here we are on Monday morning with a cup of coffee or a wee tea, sipping with pleasure. Feeling a satisfying well, earned body ache and loving it. Our Minds are clear and well-adjusted. Our hearts and hands moving in harmony.
Oh, the simple pleasures of life are found everywhere. Even the pleasures of cleaning your own “nest.” I invite you to enjoy the simples pleasures today, friends.
From our Heart & Hands to Yours!
