In this new work from home world there are so many challenges and opportunities. It’s a time to carve a new pathway, a time for engaged communication and self-advocacy. It’s a time for small acts of courage.
Today’s Tip is
~~~Be Proactive and leave your manager a “to-Do List.”
Carve New Self-Advocacy Pathways
Makes sense right? Think of it: you are missing out on those casual and beneficial moments with your manager in this distanced environment. No more stopping in their office or bumping into them in the snack room where you can talk about projects on your plate. What was a given is now gone. It’s time to carve out new pathways.
Use Blame-Free language: Stuck
When communicating this, it helps to use the “blame-free” and positive language of “stuck.”
For example: “Here’s where the project is stuck, a clear deadline and agreed upon budget. If you could address these items about time and budget with ____, I can better deliver our shared outcomes. Thanks for this.”
